Justin Moore's Song - If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away

Top of the day to all of you, and Happy Friday!

For all of you who love country music like me, you will enjoy this post and agree with me that "its real life stuff", not just sad songs talking about losing your wife, dog, truck broke down, etc.

Since we are heading into the weekend and many of you will be spending time with your friends and family like me, I thought we should take a look at how genius Justin Moore was when he wrote his recent song "If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away." Its such a simple song, but really makes you think. You can listen to the song right now by going to the bottom of this post and click on "Listen to the song by clicking on this link."

In the song he talks about how it would be if he could go and visit people he lost in heaven. He talks about how he would pack up his kids and take them for the day to introduce them to their grandfather, and how losing loved ones wouldn't be so hard to take.

The message I got from the song was that we take for granted the time we have to spend with people we love or to do the things that make us happy - and ultimately lasting memories. Once you lose something, you start to miss it. That's how it always happens.

The blog message is:

Its way to easy to get caught up in the day to day grind and forget just how precious life is. Dedicating time to literally put everything aside and just focus on quality time with the people you love or doing the things that make you happy, is critical. Especially us champions that always attempt to multi-task and want to get a hundred things done in a day. What we end up doing is taking the family/personal time and juggle it while doing other things concurrently. Then we lose out on spending that true quality time we need, to stay balanced in life.

Look at it like this, we will turn our phones off when we go into work or a meeting - with full intent to give our job its full attention without disruption. The same concept of giving personal/family time its full attention without disruption, should be the same.

Kicker note: Living a balanced life. A balanced life means something different to each individual. The balance comes from within and is really about being aligned with yourself. My good friend Shaun is great at this and I continuously admire his ability to stay aligned with himself. Its tough!!

Take this weekend to spend some personal and/or family time; focus on the quality and with as little disruption as possible. You owe it to yourself!!!

Have a great weekend and make some memories!!!

I will be spending some personal time myself, until Monday. My next post will be on Monday and something to look forward to - all of you will love it!

Don't forget that you can listen to the song by Justin Moore if you would like. Just click on "Listen to the song by clicking on this link" directly below.

Thanks for checking in,

  1. What a great message today. Often times all of us are guilty of getting lost in our day to day routines and don't stop to smell the roses. Thank you for sharing and bringing things to perspective and sending a little reminder to enjoy family, friends and the gift of life and all the beauty it holds. Cheers to you and your time spent this weekend with family and friends!

  2. Well said. I used to be better at that and oddly, I feel myself being tighter wound as I have gotten older (supposed to go the other way!). Something we should all consider for sure. Sounds like I need the boy to teach me! Mike
